This is what happens when leftism and political correctness runs amok in a country, as Jaime Sneider writes. Britain released a terrorist from prison and not only lets him walk the streets (he's technically under house arrest, but he's pictured walking around his neighborhood), but pays him $100,000 a year in welfare for his supposed bad back:
Al Qaeda foot-soldiers behead our soldiers while we pay their leaders disability. Qatada is living in a home worth $1.6 million. He's receiving government benefits totaling $100,000. This goes well beyond not deporting him. There really are no words.

Muslims can't wear pants UPDATED
Ah, even more serious stuff. There is a large Somali Muslim immigrant community in Minneapolis that has been causing lots of trouble. Apparently they are trying to force our country to conform to them, rather than them assimilating to us. As if they should have to, coming to our country and all. They use lawsuits and hysterical cries of racism to try to get their way. Don't believe it? Check out Europe, which has had rampant Muslim immigration for years. In 50 years or so they will likely have a cultural war between Muslims and everyone else (I mean actual war within Europe, not a culture war like here between Hollywood and everyone else).
Anyway, in the US we have a much smaller proportion of Muslims, but they have learned how to subvert Western democracies through the courts and through left-wing laws. Here is the newest example, of course from Minneapolis:
Yet this soft-spoken 22-year-old became an unlikely hero within the Somali community when she and five of her Muslim co-workers were dismissed last month from the Mission Foods tortilla factory in New Brighton, Minn., for refusing to wear a new company uniform — a shirt and pants — they consider a violation of their Islamic beliefs.
Of course, the great civil rights organization (not really; more like terrorist-sympathizer) CAIR is coming to the rescue to sue on their behalf. As see-dubya writes:
So Mission can either continue to ban unsafe, loose-fitting, but culturally sensitive clothing and be sued and slandered by CAIR, or they can give in and take a hit from a personal-injury lawyer when a burqa-clad employee gets tangled up in an industrial tortilla press. Tough decision.
What's the solution to the encroaching madness? Why not stop Muslim immigration and deport those that are here now? We need only to look to Europe to see our future if we don't.
UPDATED: To answer a couple of good points by a commenter, first, the Bill of Rights isn't a suicide pact, but religious freedom has nothing to do with it anyway. We as a country can decide who we let immigrate and who we don't. If we don't want Muslims, so be it. I'd at least like to see that debate occur.
Second, your Muslim friends are most likely American citizens. They cannot (obviously) and should not be deported, and they can worship as they please even if they are not citizens. Note that the ones I have problems with are recent immigrants with hard-core beliefs in sharia law. More is here on that topic.

Was Obama ever a Muslim?
Some people go through great pains to say that Obama isn't a Muslim. True enough, he is a Christian (if you can call his church's insane teachings Christian).
His campaign says that he was never a Muslim. That's not quite accurate, as Daniel Pipes points out.
Does this matter? Not to me, since he can't be held accountable for how he was raised. However, my concern is similar to Pipes':
Obama's having been born and raised a Muslim and having left the faith to become a Christian make him neither more nor less qualified to become president of the United States. But if he was born and raised a Muslim and is now hiding that fact, this points to a major deceit, a fundamental misrepresentation about himself that has profound implications about his character and his suitability as president.

Islam and the West
I don't feel like creating a huge post about this today, but here is a great primer from the always-fantastic City Journal on the hidden war of Islam against the West within our own countries.
Downplay it if you want, but look to Europe as the scary example of what can happen when you mix wimpy mulitculturalism with a totally foreign and backward group of immigrants. Here is a small sample:
Canadian Muslim reformist Irshad Manji has noted that in 2006, when 17 terrorists were arrested in Toronto on the verge of giving Canada “its own 9/11,” “the police did not mention that it had anything to do with Islam or Muslims, not a word.” When, after van Gogh’s murder, a Rotterdam artist drew a street mural featuring an angel and the words thou shalt not kill, police, fearing Muslim displeasure, destroyed the mural (and a videotape of its destruction). In July 2007, a planned TV appeal by British cops to help capture a Muslim rapist was canceled to avoid “racist backlash.” And in August, the Times of London reported that “Asian” men (British code for “Muslims”) in the U.K. were having sex with perhaps hundreds of “white girls as young as twelve”—but that authorities wouldn’t take action for fear of “upsetting race relations.” Typically, neither the Times nor government officials acknowledged that the “Asian” men’s contempt for the “white” girls was a matter not of race but of religion.

The key question for Westerners is: Do we love our freedoms as much as they hate them? Many free people, alas, have become so accustomed to freedom, and to the comfortable position of not having to stand up for it, that they’re incapable of defending it when it’s imperiled—or even, in many cases, of recognizing that it is imperiled. As for Muslims living in the West, surveys suggest that many of them, though not actively involved in jihad, are prepared to look on passively—and some, approvingly—while their coreligionists drag the Western world into the House of Submission.
But we certainly can’t expect them to take a stand for liberty if we don’t stand up for it ourselves.

Are Arabs portrayed badly by Hollywood?
According to one group, yes.
But of course, it's a load of crap. Seven years ago we were attacked by 19 Muslim Arabs. Hollywood has made loads of movies making Arabs the bad guys, right? Actually no, since they are far too left-wing to use actual enemies of us in their movies, instead going for white supremacist groups or such.
It's funny in that video montage of Arabs being shown in a negative light that United 93 wasn't part of it. I guess showing them taking over planes and ruthlessly killing thousands of people hits a little close to home when it's a true story.
